Kara Cantrell is an actress, improviser, director, producer, and theatre educator. She holds an MFA in acting from the University of Georgia, a BFA in acting from Western Kentucky University, and is a Certified Teacher of the Michael Chekhov Technique of acting via the National Michael Chekhov Association. She has appeared on stage with Stage Door Players, Theatre in the Square, Actor's Express, Synchronicity Theatre, Aurora Theatre, Jewish Theatre of the South, The Process Theatre Co., and Impulse Repertory Co., which she founded in 2011 and over which she presides as producing artistic director. Her media credits include Logan Lucky, directed by Steven Soderbergh, Allegiant, ,directed by Robert Schwentke, and numerous commercials and industrials. Kara has taught acting and theatre & performance studies at the University of Southern Mississippi, the University of Georgia, Georgia Perimeter College, and Kennesaw State University.
As with the rest of the world, Kara has been taking the Spring and early Summer of 2020 as it comes. While staying home to help "flatten the curve," (wear that mask, people!), she is coaching acting student online and planning and strategizing for new acting, directing, and producing projects for when we're able to move about the world again.
Private web-based coaching (until it's safe to meet in person) for the actor, focused on, but not exclusive to, the Chekhov Technique, is available in 30, 45, 60, or 90-minute sessions for individuals, and 60 and 90-minute sessions for groups of 2-4.
